Natural, or live-edged timber is our favourite to work with but we can also provide straight-edge timber slabs too.
We’ll start by choosing the perfect slab for you and your project needs, before providing a quote based on a finished slab to your requirements.
What do our quotes include?
Prices for supplying and finishing a timber slab for your project includes:
Cutting your slab to size,
Sanding, fine sanding.
Filling - We offer both resin and poly filling depending on your needs and whether the slab is being used indoors or outdoors.
Softening natural edges (if you require).
A final coat on the slab, again unique to the final location of the timber slab.
If your slab is being used indoors, generally we will coat the slab in a matte 2pac polyurethane. This will result in a hard-wearing surface best suited to vanities, tables, indoor bar tops, mantels and other high traffic surface areas.
If the finished product is being used outdoors we will usually recommend using an outdoor furniture oil. At The Wood Project, we like to recommend Osmo or Feast Watson. We can either coat the slab for you, or provide you with information on how to save money and complete this final step yourself.
We are very flexible with our value ads and all of our quotes are itemised for transparency and convenience. We can cater to completing a custom piece from start to finish for you, or can work with you if you wish to save money and DIY your slab.
We also have preferred trades that can install your custom piece.
